For 45 consecutive days, the Israeli occupation forces have waged a genocidal war against the Gaza Strip, resulting in an alarming death toll. The government media office in Gaza reports that since October 7, the death count due to the occupation’s aggression against Gaza has escalated to over 13,000, including a staggering 5,500 children and 3,500 women. Furthermore, more than 30,000 citizens have been injured, with a majority being women and children, in addition to numerous civilians still buried under the ruins of their homes destroyed by the occupation forces’ bombardment.
The occupation has perpetrated 1,330 massacres in Gaza, with over 6,000 persons, including more than 4,000 children and women, either missing under the rubble or abandoned on streets blocked by the occupation forces. Additionally, the occupation’s brutal campaign has led to the killing of over 220 medical personnel, targeting hospitals 160 times, and the destruction of 60 ambulances.
The material damages are equally devastating: about 43,000 housing units have been completely demolished, and 225,000 units partially damaged, indicating that approximately 60 percent of the housing in the Gaza Strip has suffered due to the aggression. Additionally, 95 government headquarters and 256 schools have been destroyed or damaged, including 63 schools now completely non-functional. The religious infrastructure has also been significantly impacted, with 83 mosques completely destroyed and 166 partially damaged, alongside the targeting of 3 churches.
The Gaza government holds the Israeli occupation and the international community responsible for these ongoing genocidal crimes in Gaza. They call for immediate international action to stop the war and the atrocities that are wreaking havoc on humanity. They stress the urgent need to open the Rafah crossing for medical aid and supplies, and fuel for hospitals, to urgently resume operations.
The Israeli occupation’s aggression against the Gaza Strip is a blatant violation of international humanitarian law and human rights, exposing civilians to extreme danger and suffering. This necessitates an urgent and decisive intervention from the international community to halt the aggression and protect the civilians of Gaza.
