For the 644th consecutive day, Israeli forces continue their campaign of genocide against the population of the Gaza Strip, with intense aerial and artillery bombardment targeting homes, schools, shelters for displaced persons, and aid distribution centres, amid unwavering US political and military support and deafening international silence.
Escalation in killings and attacks on civilians
In the past few hours alone, 22 Palestinians have been killed across Gaza since Friday morning, including Haniyah Awwad Kawarea, who succumbed to injuries sustained in an airstrike on a displaced persons’ tent in Khan Younis. Entire families were killed in further bombardments targeting homes and displacement camps.
Israeli warplanes bombed a residential building near Hammam al-Samra in Gaza’s Old City, struck al-Zeitoun neighbourhood and areas in northern Nuseirat, and hit Halima al-Sa’diyya school in Jabalia al-Balad, killing eight civilians, including women and children, and wounding dozens more.
Catastrophic humanitarian conditions
The ongoing bombardment has destroyed dozens of homes and shelters, with medical sources reporting that 82 people have been killed and 247 injured in the past 24 hours. Rescue teams remain unable to reach many victims still trapped beneath the rubble.
In al-Shati refugee camp, west of Gaza City, Israeli airstrikes targeted the home of the al-Hissi family, which was sheltering displaced members of the Daher family, resulting in another massacre and causing at least 10 children to lose limbs.
Grave violations and ongoing crimes
The Palestinian Red Crescent reported that one of its paramedics was shot by Israeli forces while performing humanitarian duties in Khan Younis. At the same time, Israeli tanks besieged dozens of displaced families near Khan Younis cemeteries, bulldozing graves and burning tents.
Horrific toll
According to the Palestinian Ministry of Health, the death toll since 7 October 2023 has surpassed 57,680 people, with 137,409 wounded and over 11,000 missing, amid widespread destruction and deepening famine that has already claimed dozens of lives.
Since 27 May, when Israel turned aid distribution points into death traps, 773 Palestinians have been killed and 5,101 wounded. The controversial “Humanitarian Gaza” organisation, jointly run by Israeli and US interests, has been used as a tool of control and coercion.
Israeli forces have committed more than 15,000 massacres, targeting approximately 14,000 families and completely wiping out nearly 2,500 families in what is a clear attempt to erase Palestinian society from existence.
