The Egyptian political detainee, Saad Mahmoud Abdel-Ghani Khadr, died in Burj Al-Arab prison after being subjected to deliberate medical negligence.
Saad, a father of seven children, is the treasurer of the Syndicate of Scientists in Dakahlia. He was arrested eight years ago. His son, Ahmed, has also been detained for seven years.
Son February 12, Saad’s daughter launched a cry for help to allow her to visit her dad before it is too late due to his critical health condition.
Saad is the third political prisoner to die in Egyptian prisons since the start of 2012.
Inhumane detention conditions have long plagued Egypt’s prisons, adversely affecting prisoners’ right to adequate medical treatment and health care.
The International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights states that all persons deprived of their liberty shall be treated with humanity and with respect for the inherent dignity of the human person.
