Arab Organisation for Human Rights in the UK (AOHR UK) condemned the heinous crime of executing an unarmed Palestinian citizen from zero distance at the hand of an Israeli soldier and stressed that this is a flagrant violation of the right to life.
Eyewitnesses stressed that Ammar Mufleh, 22, tried to stop a settler from committing violations in Hawara city, and the settler responded by shooting and injuring Ammar. However, an Israeli soldier intervened and assaulted Ammar instead of arresting the settler, and a quarrel took place between them, during which the soldier drew his pistol and fired at Ammar from zero distance.
Eyewitnesses, as well as the video of the execution that went viral on Friday, December 2, prove the Israeli narrative wrong which claimed that Ammar tried to snatch the soldier’s weapon with a deliberate intention to carry out an operation.
The number of Palestinian civilians killed by the Israeli occupation this year has risen to 159 in the West Bank, including at least 30 children, in addition to 48 people killed in Gaza as a result of the Israeli aggression in August, including 16 children.
AOHR UK stressed that the year 2022 is the bloodiest and most horrific year for the Palestinians since 2005, according to United Nations statistics.
AOHR UK emphasised that the killing of Ammar Mufleh, and dozens of unarmed Palestinians who were subjected to direct killing and without justification, constitute war crimes against the Palestinians, yet the international community remains silent.
AOHR UK stressed the need to hold accountable the Israeli leaders and those involved in killing civilians and violating their right to life. It also pointed out that the policy of double standards must end, and the international community must take a firm stand to end the Israeli violations against the Palestinian people at once.
