The Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip has reported 13 deaths, including 3 children, caused by famine and malnutrition in the past 24 hours. This raises the total number of victims of famine and malnutrition to 361, including 130 children.
Since the declaration of famine in Gaza by the IPC (Integrated Food Security Phase Classification) on 22 August 2025, 83 deaths have been recorded, among them 15 children.
According to the international classification of food insecurity, more than half a million people in Gaza are facing conditions categorised as Phase 5, or famine. This stage is marked by extreme hunger, death, destitution, and critically high levels of acute malnutrition.
A further 1.07 million people, equivalent to 54% of the population, are enduring Phase 4, described as “emergency” acute food insecurity, while around 396,000 people are in Phase 3, classified as “crisis” levels of acute food insecurity.
This situation represents a clear example of slow genocide carried out by the occupation against the people of Gaza. The deliberate deprivation of food and restriction of humanitarian aid have become systematic methods to impose suffering and death by starvation on defenceless civilians, in blatant violation of international law and human rights conventions that protect civilians in conflict zones.
Children, women, and the elderly are the most affected, with statistics showing significantly higher rates of death and malnutrition among them. This confirms that what is taking place is not a temporary food crisis, but a deliberate policy designed to break Palestinian society and subjugate it through blockade and starvation.
The continued inaction of the international community, which remains limited to issuing statements without taking practical measures to save civilians, only deepens the suffering of Gazans and leaves them at the mercy of hunger and death. The current situation clearly demands urgent and decisive action to halt these crimes before the crisis escalates into an uncontrollable humanitarian catastrophe
