The Israeli occupation continues to forcibly evacuate the people of the Gaza Strip, amid warnings from international relief organizations of dire consequences.
Doctors Without Borders said that it is inhumane for the Israeli army to continue displacing Palestinian civilians in the Gaza Strip.
The rights organization stated in a statement published on the “X” platform that the occupation forces forced Palestinians in Deir al-Balah and Khan Yunis to evacuate, while many people, including members of the Doctors Without Borders organization, trying to move to the Al-Mawasi area to the south.
“The continuous forced displacement of people is inhumane,” said MSF project coordinator Jacob Granger.
“People have no belongings left, nowhere left to go. There is no room to put tents up. The overcrowding, severe lack of water, and minimal sanitation services are fueling the spread of diseases. We are unable to keep up with the overwhelming needs.”
Diseases are thriving due to shrinking living space and lack of water and hygiene products. “We are seeing an increase in skin conditions such as scabies—most linked to the lack of water and hygiene products like soap,” says Julie Faucon, MSF medical coordinator.
“With the constant bombardments forcing people to seek shelter in a shrinking space, conditions are worsening and diseases will continue to spread, impacting the most vulnerable, such as children.”
For their part, international relief organizations confirmed that the continued displacement of Palestinian civilians in the Gaza Strip by the Israeli occupation army is hindering relief operations, stressing that “civilians have no place left to seek refuge.”
The organizations explained in a joint statement in London that the city of Deir al-Balah in the center of the Gaza Strip, which houses infrastructure and warehouses to store basic relief supplies in Gaza, will be forcibly evacuated.
The rights group added that the residents of Gaza and humanitarian relief workers in Deir al-Balah have been subjected to forced displacement several times before.
The organizations stated that the so-called “evacuation orders” announced by the occupation authorities are hindering humanitarian aid operations for a large number of non-governmental organizations.
The groups also pointed out that the forced displacement carried out by the Israeli occupation in Khan Yunis (south) and Deir al-Balah from 8 to 17 August affected the work of 17 health institutions, stressing that vital vaccination operations against polio will also be affected by these practices.
The joint statement was signed by 27 international relief organizations, most of which are based in Europe and the United States, including Save the Children, Oxfam, Islamic Relief Worldwide, ANERA, Youworld, and Norwegian Church Aid.
According to the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), the Israeli occupation authorities issued 16 eviction orders between July 1 and August 21, while an estimated 213,000 Palestinians were forcibly displaced from the beginning of August to the 16th of the month.
The Israeli occupation forces Palestinians in the Gaza Strip to continuously move from one place to another under evacuation orders issued since the start of the war on October 7.
According to UN data, 9 out of 10 people in the Gaza Strip have been displaced due to the Israeli genocide war. The organization’s data also indicates that most Palestinians in Gaza are forced to move at least once a month.
Recently, the United Nations announced that 1.9 million Palestinians (out of 2.3 million) have been forcibly displaced since the first days of the Israeli aggression, and that many of them have been displaced more than once.
Since October 7, 2023, the Israeli occupation forces have continued to carry out a war of genocide on the Gaza Strip, which has led to a catastrophic deterioration of the humanitarian and health conditions, due to the continuous bombing and the tight siege that prevents the arrival of basic supplies of food, water, medicine, and electricity.
