Since the early hours of Monday morning, the Gaza Strip has witnessed a new wave of mass killings by Israeli occupation forces. As of the time of publishing, 28 people have been confirmed dead across various parts of the besieged enclave.
Medical sources confirmed that Al-Shifa Hospital received 22 bodies, one was transferred to Al-Awda Hospital, and five others to Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis.
In Gaza City, Israeli forces bombed a tent sheltering displaced members of the Abu Ghanima family in the Al-Rimal neighbourhood, killing six civilians, including three children.
In the north of the city, Israeli airstrikes hit two homes belonging to the Abu Leila and Abu Qins families, resulting in the deaths of 10 civilians and leaving others critically injured.
This wave of violence was accompanied by intense artillery and aerial bombardment, including the demolition of homes and residential buildings using booby-trapped robots and machinery, particularly in the Al-Zaytoun neighbourhood in the south and the Sheikh Radwan area in the north.
The escalation triggered a mass displacement of civilians, with Al-Rashid coastal road witnessing severe traffic congestion as vehicles carried thousands of fleeing families.
In central Gaza, a civilian collecting firewood in Al-Mughraqa town was killed by a drone strike, while the north and centre of Nuseirat refugee camp were subjected to heavy artillery shelling.
In the south, simultaneous airstrikes and artillery bombardment targeted multiple neighbourhoods in Khan Younis.
Under international law, targeting defenceless civilians, their homes, and refugee camps constitutes crimes against humanity. The deliberate destruction of civilian infrastructure and the forced displacement of populations amount to systematic acts of genocide, especially amid ongoing mass killings, a suffocating siege, and a manufactured famine that has already claimed the lives of hundreds, including children.
The United Nations has previously warned that Gaza faces the threat of “human annihilation” due to the prolonged war and blockade. Yet, the Israeli occupation continues to commit gross violations with impunity, bolstered by unwavering US support, further exacerbating civilian suffering and prolonging the humanitarian catastrophe.
Since 7 October 2023, Israeli attacks have killed over 64,800 people and injured more than 164,000, the majority being women and children. The total blockade and engineered starvation have led to the deaths of 422 civilians, including 145 children, a stark reflection of a genocidal war.
