Medical sources confirmed that the death toll of those killed and transferred to hospitals in the Gaza Strip rose to 31 on Sunday morning. The victims were killed in a series of massacres committed by the Israeli occupation, as part of its ongoing campaign of genocide.
Al-Shifa Hospital received 26 bodies, while the Arab Ahli Hospital (“Al-Mamadani”) reported two, and Al-Awda Hospital and Nasser Medical Complex each received one body.
Since 7 October 2023, the Israeli occupation army has carried out systematic acts of genocide in Gaza, killing 65,208 Palestinians and injuring 166,271, the majority of them women and children. The actual toll is believed to be much higher, with many victims still trapped under rubble or lying on roads where rescue teams cannot reach them due to ongoing bombardment.
What is unfolding in Gaza represents a systematic violation of international humanitarian law. Civilians are deliberately targeted in their homes, deprived of food, water, and safety, while displacement camps are relentlessly bombed. This has turned hospitals and medical centres into unsafe spaces, in clear defiance of international treaties that obligate protection for civilians, medical personnel, and rescue workers.
The United Nations has previously warned of the catastrophic humanitarian situation in Gaza, with civilians facing famine, disease, and death under an inhumane blockade. Yet the occupation persists in these crimes, relying on starvation as a weapon of war and collective punishment, placing hundreds of thousands of lives at immediate risk.
These developments underscore the urgent questions about the effectiveness of the international legal system and its ability to protect civilians in times of conflict, as the people of Gaza continue to pay with their lives under a campaign of mass atrocities.
