At Gaza’s Al-Shifa Medical Complex, 291 patients, including 32 children in extremely critical condition, bear witness to the ongoing genocide. This United Nations report on Sunday highlights the dire situation in Gaza’s largest hospital.
Many patients, facing severe and multiple injuries, including spinal damage rendering them immobile, remain in critical condition. Despite the evacuation of 2,500 people from the hospital on Saturday, 25 medical staff members continue to provide urgent care.
The World Health Organization, which led this inspection, reported a palpable sense of fear among patients and staff, with desperate pleas for evacuation. The organization described Al-Shifa Hospital as a “death zone” and is planning further missions to evacuate patients to already overcrowded facilities in southern Gaza.
Contrary to Israeli occupation claims of voluntary evacuation, the World Health Organization confirmed forced displacement orders by the Israeli army. The relentless bombings by the Israeli forces have disabled 26 out of 35 hospitals in Gaza, exacerbating the humanitarian crisis.
The continuous aggression in Gaza has resulted in the death of 12,300 citizens, including over 5,000 children and 3,300 women, and the injury of more than 30,000. The aggression has also claimed the lives of 200 medical staff and 22 Civil Defense members, alongside 58 journalists.
This Israeli aggression against Gaza, an evident breach of international humanitarian law and human rights, endangers civilian lives and property and demands immediate international action to cease the aggression and protect civilians.
