Israeli occupation forces continue to perpetrate massacres against Palestinian civilians in the Gaza Strip, leaving dozens dead and wounded—most of them children and women—since the early hours of Monday, through airstrikes targeting various densely populated areas.
According to Palestinian medical sources, over 65% of those killed during the ongoing assault on Gaza belong to vulnerable groups: children, women, and the elderly.
Health institutions have documented the deaths of more than 18,000 children and 12,400 women, in addition to the complete annihilation of 2,180 families, with all their members killed, and another 5,070 families from which only a single survivor remains.
In a related context, sources confirmed that the occupation deliberately targeted humanitarian workers, resulting in the killing of more than 1,400 doctors, nurses, and healthcare workers, as well as 113 civil defence personnel while performing their rescue duties. Additionally, around 212 journalists have been killed as part of efforts to silence independent media coverage and obscure evidence of crimes against civilians.
Statistics also show that more than 13,000 students, 800 teachers and educational staff, and over 150 academics and university researchers have been killed, alongside thousands of employees and civil workers from vital sectors across Gaza.
The deliberate targeting of civilians and civilian infrastructure, as witnessed in Gaza, constitutes a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law, particularly the Fourth Geneva Convention, which safeguards civilian populations during times of war.
Under the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court, the widespread and systematic killing of civilians, along with the targeting of hospitals, rescue teams, and journalists, amounts to war crimes warranting international accountability. The documented extermination of entire families also rises to the level of genocide, which is strictly prohibited under international treaties.
Since 7 October 2023, the occupation has waged a large-scale assault on the Gaza Strip, resulting to date in the deaths of 52,243 Palestinians and injuries to 117,639 others—a toll that is expected to rise as bombardment continues and recovery efforts remain hampered by the destruction.
Despite numerous international appeals to halt the assault, the international community remains unable to stop the ongoing violations, underscoring the urgent need for transparent international investigations to hold those responsible to account and ensure an end to impunity.
