The Israeli occupation continues to prevent the entry of aid and food supplies into the Gaza Strip, and has completely closed the crossings for 64 days, which may lead to an increase in the number of deaths from hunger, especially among children.
The Government Media Office (GMO) warned that the occupation forces continue to commit the crime of preventing the entry of aid and food supplies into the Gaza Strip, as part of the ongoing crime of genocide against civilians, children and women for the tenth month in a row.”
The Israeli occupation is working to escalate “its policy of starvation in the Gaza Strip, and deeply in the Gaza City and Northern Gaza governorates, by closing the crossings and targeting food stores and production facilities, in clear violation of all international conventions that stipulate the right to food as a basic human right.” .
All international laws prohibit starvation of civilians as a means of war during international armed and non-international conflicts, considering that “this prohibition is being violated by Israel against civilians in the Gaza Strip, as it exposes them to hunger by depriving them of food supplies.”
The GMO held the Israeli occupation and the US administration fully responsible for “the continuation of the starvation crime against the Palestinians,” calling on the international community, the United Nations, all international organisations, and the free world to put pressure on the Israeli occupation and Washington to stop the genocidal war, and open Gaza crossings, before humanitarian aid.
Since October 7, 2023, the IOF has been waging a devastating war on the Gaza Strip, resulting in catastrophic humanitarian and health conditions, due to the continuous bombing and the prevention of supplies of food, water, medicine, and electricity.
The Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip constitutes a blatant violation of international humanitarian law and human rights, as it exposes the lives and property of civilians to extreme danger, which requires urgent intervention from the international community to stop the aggression and protect civilians in the Gaza Strip.
This international community must force the IOF to adhere to international laws and treaties on human rights and international humanitarian law. They must be obliged to protect the rights and lives of civilians, prohibit their targeting and preserve their safety, and punish the leaders responsible for committing war crimes in the Gaza Strip and elsewhere.
