Two Palestinian citizens were killed and others were injured when an Israeli occupation drone targeted a group of civilians east of Shujaiya neighborhood in the Gaza Strip. This attack is part on the ongoing Israeli aggression that has not stopped since the beginning of the war on October 7, 2023.
Those killed are Alaa Imad Aslim and Muhammad Subhi Aslim, who were targeted near Al-Mu’tasim Mosque on Mansoura Street. Medical teams confirmed that the bombing also resulted in several injuries among citizens.
According to medical sources, the death toll in the Gaza Strip has risen to 48,446, while the number of injured has exceeded 111,852, as a result of the aggression that has been ongoing for fifteen months.
These figures confirm the fact that the Gaza Strip is facing one of the bloodiest military campaigns in modern times, amid catastrophic humanitarian conditions due to the ongoing bombing and stifling siege.
Targeting civilians with drones is a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law, which prohibits indiscriminate attacks against civilians. Article (51) of the First Additional Protocol to the Geneva Conventions prohibits “attacks that do not distinguish between military targets and civilians,” which the occupation authorities systematically repeat.
The repeated bombing of residential areas, mosques, and civilian facilities also contradicts the principle of proportionality in the use of force, which is one of the basic principles of the laws of war, which obliges warring parties to avoid excessive harm to civilians.
Despite the ongoing documentation of Israeli crimes, the international community remains unable to take concrete steps to stop the aggression. Western administrations continue to support the occupation both at the diplomatic and military levels, while ignoring calls from the international human rights community to impose sanctions and boycott Israel due to its serious violations of international law.
The suffering of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip is increasing as the raids continue to claim more lives amid international silence, and urgent action must be taken to stop the aggression and save civilians from the scourge of the ongoing war.
