Grave violations against civilians in the Gaza Strip continue, as residents face repeated bombardments targeting residential neighbourhoods, tents, and schools, in blatant breach of international humanitarian law, which affords special protection to civilians and children.
On Monday, two Palestinians, including a child, were killed and others injured as Israeli occupation forces bombed camps and a school sheltering displaced families in southern and northern Gaza. A drone strike on a school in the Jabalia al-Balad area of northern Gaza killed one person and injured several others, some critically.
In Khan Younis, in the southwest of the Strip, three-year-old Eyad Ahmed Al-Rabaye’ah was killed and others were wounded when Israeli occupation naval forces shelled tents of displaced persons along the coastal area of Al-Mawasi.
Intense gunfire was also reported from Israeli occupation military vehicles stationed east of the so-called “Yellow Line,” which demarcates areas of Israeli deployment east of the Strip and the movement zones permitted for Palestinians in the west.
Eyewitnesses confirmed that Israeli occupation forces continued demolishing buildings and infrastructure in Rafah and central Gaza, deepening the humanitarian catastrophe by leaving civilians without shelter.
The deliberate targeting of civilians, children, and schools represents a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law, which strictly prohibits attacks on civilians or areas where they congregate.
These killings occur amid a deepening humanitarian crisis in Gaza, under blockade for over 18 years. The war has caused widespread destruction and tens of thousands of civilian casualties.
With humanitarian conditions worsening, Palestinians in Gaza remain at daily risk of death and injury, while the international community fails to provide effective protection.
