Gaza’s Government Media Office (GMO) warned that over 3,500 children across the Gaza Strip are at risk of death due to malnutrition.
Gaza is rapidly heading towards famine amid an Israeli and US conspiracy to prevent humanitarian aid from entering Gaza, the GMO said in a statement.
“3,500 children are threatened by death due to malnutrition and a lack of nutritional supplements and vaccines, which became part of the prohibited items to enter Gaza,” the statement reads.
“The Israeli occupation and the US administration are pushing 2.4 million civilians in the Gaza Strip into starvation, by preventing their access to food and medicine, in a dangerous and inhumane manner.”
It added that “the crime of banning the entry of food and medicine exacerbated the suffering of the Palestinians in Gaza.”
It further stated that “the crime of preventing the entry of aid and food as a tool for political pressure by the Israeli occupation and the US administration has significantly doubled the suffering in all governorates of the Gaza Strip.”
The GMO urged urgent and immediate international intervention to stop Israel’s policy of starvation in Gaza, “which will claim the lives of hundreds of thousands of civilians, children, and patients.”
The GMO also called for the opening of the border crossings with Gaza to allow the flow of humanitarian aid into war-battered Gaza.
Since October 7, 2023, the IOF has been waging a devastating war on the Gaza Strip, resulting in catastrophic humanitarian and health conditions, due to the continuous bombing and the prevention of supplies of food, water, medicine, and electricity.
The Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip constitutes a blatant violation of international humanitarian law and human rights, as it exposes the lives and property of civilians to extreme danger, which requires urgent intervention from the international community to stop the aggression and protect civilians in the Gaza Strip.
This international community must force the IOF to adhere to international laws and treaties on human rights and international humanitarian law. They must be obliged to protect the rights and lives of civilians, prohibit their targeting and preserve their safety, and punish the leaders responsible for committing war crimes in the Gaza Strip and elsewhere.
