Arab Organisation for Human Rights in the UK (AOHR UK) stressed the urgent need to subject the camps in which Palestinians from the Gaza Strip are detained to supervision and inspection in order to provide physical and psychological protection, means of life, and the necessary health care to them. This comes following an investigation of the Israeli Haaretz newspaper revealed the killing of 27 Palestinians who were arrested after October 7 war was launched on the Strip.
The Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) arrested hundreds of Palestinians as part of its extermination war on the Gaza Strip. The Haaretz investigation was portrayed to be leaked in a poor attempt to legitimise and wash away the heinous killing of war prisoners at the hands of the IOF with orders from a higher political level.
The investigation deliberately used the word “death” instead of “killing” to disorient the international public opinion to believe that those who were killed had lost their lives due to illnesses or injuries sustained during the war, and that attempts to provide them with medical treatment did not help save their lives.
The investigation revealed that the detainees are always shackled and blindfolded in camps where they are beings subjected to beatings and humiliation, however it ignored the fact that their severe torture, poor living conditions, and medical neglect were the direct causes of their death, in yet another failed attempt to acquit the fascist IOF of killing them.
The claim of death instead of killing had been refuted by testimonies of many prisoners of all kinds, women, men and the elderly, who confirmed being subjected to severe torture at the hands of Israeli officers and soldiers, and had clear marks of their torture on their bodies. Survivors also confirmed seeing other prisoners who lost their lives inside these camps and prisons.
There is an urgent need to send an international delegation to visit the hundreds of Palestinians detained in those camps, as per the investigation, to learn about their detention and health conditions and to work seriously on releasing them, as those are civilians who were arrested as part of committing genocide.
Attempt to acquit the occupation soldiers and officers of the crimes committed behind the walls of prisons and military camps are poor and meaningless attempts, as it has been proven that they have committed the most heinous crimes against civilians. These proofs are supported with documented evidence in videos showing the stripping and torture of Palestinian victims. Mass graves of victims also reveal the fact that they have been shot dead after cuffing their hands to the back and blindfolding them.
AOHR UK stressed that those who committed genocides and massacres over the course of five months, during which they killed tens of thousands of children and women, turned the Gaza Strip into rubbles, and starved the population, would not hesitate to torture detainees to death.
