The Israeli occupation forces (IOF) continue their aggression on Jenin and its camp for the ninth consecutive day. These dangerous and serious violations of international humanitarian law include targeting civilians and property, and imposing prohibited collective punishments on the civilians.
The aggression caused the killing of 17 Palestinians, and the injury of dozens, in addition to arbitrary arrests and widespread destruction of infrastructure.
On Wednesday, Palestinian Red Crescent crews were able to transfer the body of a Palestinian victim from the roof of a building in Jenin.
Omar Abu Al-Haija, 25, was killed after being injured last night, Tuesday, following a drone strike attack in the centre of the city.
The IOF prevented ambulance crews from reaching and transporting the injured man, and he was found dead this morning, after which his body was transferred to the hospital.
The IOF burned and blew up citizens’ homes in the camp, and demolished Hamza Mosque, in a clear violation of the protection of places of worship guaranteed by international law.
An IOF drone also targeted and injuring a young man and arresting him after the occupation forces prevented medical crews from reaching him, and detained an ambulance in the industrial area, which constitutes a flagrant violation of the Geneva Conventions that prohibit obstructing humanitarian and medical work.
The IOF sent new military reinforcements from a checkpoint, including small bulldozers to facilitate road construction inside the narrow camp, where they demolished dozens of homes and forcibly widened roads, which led to the displacement of families.
The eastern area of the camp also witnessed forced evictions of families at gunpoint, which amounts to the crime of forced displacement prohibited under international law.
Large areas were destroyed, especially around Al-Zahraa School, the camp square, where the infrastructure was destroyed, roads were cut off, and water and electricity networks were severely damaged.
The Director of Jenin Health, Dr. Wissam Subaihat, confirmed that the directorate will work today, Wednesday, to receive patients and visitors in clinics, despite the risks and challenges in the field, calling for facilitating the access of medical teams and providing them with protection.
The Israeli aggression on Jenin continues without any serious international action being taken to stop the crimes committed, which increases the suffering of the civilian population and enhances impunity for the IOF to implement policies of displacement and systematic destruction.
