The Israeli occupation forces (IOF) arrested four fishermen after seizing their boat off Al-Sudaniyya shores, northwest of the Gaza Strip, on Monday morning.
The Israeli gunboats surrounded the boat and arrested four fishermen on board.
The fishermen, all of them brothers, were identified as Haitham, Amjad, Jaber, and Firas Tariq Bakr and took them to Ashdod port.
Fishing is one of the biggest industries in the Gaza Strip, a coastal enclave of almost 2 million inhabitants.
However, the Israeli navy and army routinely open fire on Palestinian fishermen sailing within the six-nautical-mile zone, as well as farmers in farmlands along the border.
The Israeli violations against Palestinian fishermen constitute a flagrant violation of the international humanitarian law related to the protection of civilian lives and respect their rights to work, to life, security and personal safety.
Israel has maintained its crippling blockade of the Gaza Strip since 2007, in what human rights groups say is collective punishment of the impoverished residents.
