On Tuesday, March 14, 2023, the Israeli occupation forces (IOF) demolished two Palestinian-owned houses in Sur Baher town in Jerusalem, displacing 13 family members.
Local sources said that the IOF stormed the town early today and demolished two apartments belonging to Mohammed Ibrahim Abu Tair and his sister.
During the demolition process, the IOF brutally assaulted and arrested Adel Abu Tair, Mohammed’s brother.
The two 90-sq apartments were built two years ago, housing 12 family members.
House demolitions have been central tools to facilitate Israel’s land appropriation and dispossession in the occupied Palestinian territories.
In 2022, 950 Palestinian-owned houses were either demolished or destroyed in occupied West Bank and Jerusalem at the hands of the Israeli occupation forces. 2290 demolition orders were also issued during the same reported period.
Since 1948, Israeli occupation demolished more than 500 Palestinian villages and towns.
