The Israeli occupation forces continue to besiege Jericho city in the West Bank to impose collective punishment on its citizens by disrupting citizens daily activities and spread fear and anxiety among them.
The IOF placed military checkpoints at the entrances and exits of Jericho and its two camps to search cars and check the ID cards of citizens and hinder their movement.
According to the latest statistics for the governorate of Jericho and the Jordan Valley, since the beginning of this year, the IOF killed 9 citizens and injured 45 others, in addition to arresting 137 detainees, demolishing 12 homes, and issuing a notification to demolish 55 homes and facilities. Furthermore, the occupation authorities are still holding the bodies of 6 of those whom the IOF killed.
This siege on Jericho city is a clear violation of the rights of civilians and international humanitarian laws, as exposing civilians to an armed siege is a direct threat to their safety and basic freedoms, as it also disrupts their daily life activities and multiplies the economic and social damage caused by the occupation.
These gross human rights violations require serious action to be taken by the international community to end them and ensure the safety of the Palestinians in order to achieve peace and stability in the region.
