The Israeli occupation forces (IOF) continue its aggression on the city of Jenin and its camp for the eleventh consecutive day. This military campaign has resulted in the killing of 19 Palestinians, including a child, and the injury of more than 50 others. It has also left systematic demolition and destruction of about 100 homes, in addition to burning private property inside the camp.
This aggression is a part of the Israeli policy of collective punishment, which violates international humanitarian law and the Geneva Conventions that prohibit targeting civilians and destroying property without military need.
Furthermore, the IOF sent military reinforcements and military bulldozers to the city and the camp, amid continued burning, demolition and bulldozing of Palestinian homes.
Three women in their fifties have been injured in an airstrike, which targeted a building inside the camp, while the bodies of two dead people were withheld by the Israeli soldiers after they had field-executed them, in a flagrant violation of all international laws.
The IOF also prevented the entry of press crews to cover these crimes, and obstructed the work of the ambulance teams, as their vehicles deliberately collided with an ambulance while trying to transport one of the injured, which amounts to a war crime according to international laws that guarantee protection for medical and journalistic crews in conflict zones.
Ongoing aggression on Tulkarm
In parallel with the escalation in Jenin; the IOF continue their aggression on the city and camp of Tulkarm for the fifth consecutive day, with a tight siege being imposed on the city, and deploying soldiers and snipers in the streets and residential neighbourhoods, which reflects the policy of collective punishment the occupation is pursuing against the Palestinians.
The IOF forced dozens of families to evacuate their homes by force, in a flagrant violation of Article 49 of the Fourth Geneva Convention, which prohibits the forced displacement of residents under any circumstances.
The Palestinian Red Crescent Society reported that it has so far evacuated 150 civilians, including patients, after receiving orders to evacuate under threat.
In addition to this, the IOF seized a number of residential and commercial buildings and turned them into military barracks. They also stormed a number of homes in different neighbourhoods and arrested five young men after abusing their families and forcing them to leave their homes amidst heavy gunfire.
The IOF also imposed a tight siege on the Martyr Thabet Thabet Governmental Hospital and the Israa Specialise d Hospital, and seized the tall buildings surrounding them, which hindered the work of medical staff and prevented patients and the injured from reaching hospitals. This constitutes a serious violation of the Palestinians’ right to health care, which is guaranteed by international conventions.
The ongoing aggression on Jenin and Tulkarm is a part of a long series of crimes and violations committed by the occupation forces against the Palestinian people, amid international silence that exacerbates the suffering of civilians, despite the aggression being a clear violation of international law.
