The Israeli occupation continues its displacement and Judaization policies in Palestine, ignoring all international appeals to stop its daily demolition operation.
On Wednesday, the Israeli occupation forces demolished a residential building in the Ras al-Amud neighborhood, east of occupied Jerusalem.
The occupation forces stormed the neighbourhood in large numbers and demolished a two-story residential building, each floor containing four 110-sq apartments, located near Wadi Qaddum.
The four apartments are owned by: Zuhair Abdul Aziz Ghaith and his brother Murad Abdul Aziz Ghaith, and Fahd Mubarak and his brother Muhammad Mubarak.
Owners of the building have paid nearly 800,000 shekels as penalties to the Israeli municipal authorities since the establishment of the building in 2016. However, an Israeli demolition order was issued last Wednesday.
Building permits are extremely difficult to obtain for Jerusalemites and can cost tens of thousands of dollars for each residential unit or business store.
Israel’s demolition, displacement, and settlement policies are blatant violations of international law and the fundamental human right to housing, which includes the right to stability and access to safe and suitable housing free from discrimination or forced eviction.
In 2022, the Israeli authorities granted construction permits to 12,934 settlement units in the West Bank, including occupied Jerusalem, and demolished 318 Palestinian homes and 583 facilities.
