The Israeli occupation forces (IOF) continued targeting Gaza’s hospitals during its genocidal war on the Gaza Strip for the 172nd day in a row.
The spokesman for the Palestinian Red Crescent in Gaza, Wael Al-Nims, said on Tuesday that “the IOF forced us to evacuate Al-Amal Hospital”. In a brief statement, he warned of the destruction of the health system in Gaza due to targeting hospitals.
The Red Crescent society reported last night that Al-Amal Hospital in Khan Yunis became out of service, after the IOF forced the hospital’s crews and the wounded to evacuate it and closed its entrances with barriers.
Meanwhile, dozens of Palestinian citizens were killed and others were injured on Tuesday, March 26, 2024, with missile, artillery shelling and gunfire of the IOF in the vicinity of Al-Shifa Hospital, west of Gaza City.
The IOF aircraft bombed homes, buildings, and residential apartments in the vicinity of Al-Shifa Hospital, while firing artillery shelling and shooting from Israeli drones on homes and all moving things on the roads surrounding the hospital, resulting in the killing and the injury of dozens, who were unable to transport citizens or ambulances to Al-Baptist Hospital due to the continued IOF operations in Al-Rimal neighbourhood, west of the city.
A drone also opened fire on dozens of citizens who tried to approach the hospital and its surroundings to retrieve the dead and wounded, leaving casualties among them, specifically near the Yarmouk Stadium in the centre of Gaza City.
The IOF’s aggression on the hospitals in the Gaza Strip necessitates the international community to urgently ensure that the rights of patients are protected, that they are provided with necessary medical care, and to hold the Israeli occupation accountable for violations of human rights and international humanitarian law, which stipulates the protection of medical facilities and their workers during conflicts.
Since October 7, 2023, the IOF has been waging a devastating war on the Gaza Strip, leaving enormous humanitarian conditions and causing a major health and environmental catastrophe due to the destruction of vital facilities and the overflow of sewage in large areas.
