As the ongoing Israeli escalation in the northern West Bank, the Israeli occupation forces (IOF) killed a young Palestinian man in Jenin at dawn on Tuesday.
According to reports, a special Israeli military unit infiltrated Al-Ghoul building in the eastern neighbourhood of Jenin, shooting Alawneh in the thigh. The soldiers deliberately left him bleeding, and he succumbed to his wounds shortly after. The Palestinian Red Crescent Society confirmed that their medical teams transported the martyr to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead. He was in his twenties.
The Israeli military campaign in the northern West Bank continues, with occupation forces intensifying raids on Tulkarm and its refugee camps for the 37th consecutive day. Residents are enduring heightened suffering due to the siege and repeated military incursions, which have disrupted daily life and caused severe shortages of food and medical supplies.
The occupation has further reinforced its presence in the area, launching house raids, property destruction, and an intensified blockade on the Tulkarm and Nur Shams refugee camps. Main roads have been sealed off, restricting movement, while occupation forces have resorted to live fire and sound bombs to instil fear among residents.
Simultaneously, the demolition and bulldozing of homes have intensified, with more than 25 houses destroyed in Tulkarm and Nur Shams camps under the pretext of constructing new roads. The ongoing siege has forcibly displaced more than 9,000 residents from Nur Shams camp, while over 12,000 have been forced to flee from Tulkarm camp, deepening the humanitarian crisis. Amid ongoing military operations, the death toll continues to rise, with scores of injuries and mass arrests, including children and women, in inhumane detention conditions.
In Nablus, Israeli forces arrested three Palestinian citizens from Rujeib village east of the city on Tuesday morning. After storming the village, occupation forces raided homes and ransacked their contents before arresting Gaith Rawajbeh, Laith Fareeh Dweikat, and Ahmed Jihad Rawajbeh. Other neighbourhoods in Nablus city were also subjected to military incursions, including Al-Makhfieh neighbourhood, where homes were searched and vandalised, although no arrests were reported.
The use of excessive force against civilians remains a systematic policy of the Israeli occupation, aimed at consolidating its military control over Palestinian territories. International human rights reports have documented the occupation’s use of heavy weaponry in densely populated areas, resulting in high civilian casualties and the widespread destruction of essential infrastructure, including water and electricity networks.
The ongoing blockade on Palestinian cities and refugee camps in the West Bank constitutes a grave breach of international law, which guarantees civilians the right to movement and access to humanitarian necessities. The enforced displacement of Palestinian families threatens to erode the social and economic fabric of these communities, exacerbating their suffering.
Arbitrary arrests, particularly the detention of individuals without fair trial, are strictly prohibited under international law. Legal frameworks also mandate the humane treatment of detainees, yet Israeli forces persist in their violations, subjecting Palestinian children and youth to arbitrary imprisonment.
The systematic destruction of civilian properties, including homes and public infrastructure, represents a serious violation of Israel’s obligations under international humanitarian law. The international community must take urgent action to hold Israel accountable for its continued violations and apply pressure to curb the occupation’s ongoing escalation in the occupied Palestinian territories.
