On Friday, April 19, 2024, the Israeli occupation forces (IOF) raided Nour Shams camp, east Tulkarm, killing a Palestinian man, and destroying infrastructure and citizens’ property.
The IOF killed, Salim Faisal Abdel Latif Ghannam, 30, and wounded two others in Al-Damj neighbourhood in Nour Shams camp.
Salim, is the brother of Amer and Ahmed Ghanem, who were also killed by the occupation during its aggression on the camp on October 19, 2023.
The IOF stormed the camp yesterday with two bulldozers, and imposed a tight siege on it.
The IOF destroyed the main streets, alleys, water and sewage networks, and the walls of homes, shops, and commercial establishments.
The occupation bulldozers also demolished shops and commercial warehouses in the camp square belonging to the families of Al-Damah, Sheikh Majid, Abu Al-Rub, Amarna, Shehada, and Al-Misbah, and closed the entrances to the camp square next to the Abu Bakr Al-Siddiq Mosque, and in the schools street, with dirt barriers. The occupation soldiers also burned the stalls in the camp yard.
The occupation forces raided dozens of citizens’ homes in the camp, specifically Al-Manshiya, after removing the gates and searched the houses, interrogated its residents, detained some families in one room, turned several homes into military barracks and places for snipers, and prevented ambulances from entering the camp to transport patients to the hospital, which resulted in the death of an elderly man. A young man was also injured by shrapnel and was transported to the Martyr Thabet Thabet Governmental Hospital.
The IOF also arrested three other young men, bringing the number of detainees to 6, after raiding their homes in Tulkarm. Those are Alaa Al-Tamouni from Ezbet Al-Jarad, east of the city, Aseed Taha from the Shweika suburb in the north, who was attacked by occupation police dogs during his arrest, and Lutfi Lemon from the town of Attil, north of the governorate, and Muhammad Hussam Al-Ajouz, Qais Saed Al-Ajouz, and Muhammad Izzat Jaber from the Aktaba neighborhood opposite the camp. The IOF also assaulted and beat Yazan Al-Ajouz, after which he was taken to hospital.
The IOF placed military reinforcements from the western axis to the camp, while reconnaissance planes flew overhead, amidst a tight siege on the suburbs of Dhanaba and Aktaba, adjacent to the entrances to the camp, in addition to shooting heavy gunfire at citizens and their homes.
The IOF targeted a group of journalists who were in Aktaba suburb, covering the storming of the camp, but no casualties were reported.
Various parts of the West Bank, including Jerusalem, are witnessing daily raids and incursions into villages and towns by the IOF, accompanied by arrests, shooting, and tear gas bombs at Palestinians, in conjunction with repeated attacks by settlers.
