The Israeli occupation forces (IOF) obstructed the access of Palestinian students and teachers to 27 schools east of Yatta in the southern West Bank.
According to the Palestinian Ministry of Education, the IOF closed all entrances to the villages and communities in southern Hebron and blocked students and teachers’ access to 27 schools.
The Israeli measure caused a partial disruption of school hours in these schools, the ministry added.
This incident sheds light on the urgent need to protect Palestinian students and teachers and their right to a safe and secure education and not expose them to threats or violence while on their way to school. Such attacks clearly violate international law, and action is needed to stop similar incidents in the future.
Meanwhile, the Israeli troops carried out a large-scale raid campaign in several towns south of Hebron and confiscated surveillance camera recordings.
Tension has been rising in the occupied West Bank over the past few months due to the escalated Israeli raid and arrest campaigns.
