The Israel military court on Monday rejected the petition submitted by Palestinian prisoner Khalil Al-Awawdeh’s lawyer that demanded his release after his health condition severely deteriorated.
Awawdeh’s health worsens day by day, as he lost half of his weight and couldn’t recognise his wife when she visited him.
Awawdeh suffers from joint pain, headache, and poor eyesight, and uses a wheelchair to move.
Awawdeh, a father of four, was arrested more than once, most recently was in 2021 where he was held in administrative detention without charge or trial.
Administrative detention is incarceration without trial or charge, alleging that a person plans to commit a future offence. It has no time limit, and the evidence on which it is based is not disclosed.
Meanwhile, the Israeli authorities prevented the mother of the Palestinian prisoner, Ayham Ghannam, from visiting him in Megiddo Prison.
His father Riyad Ghannam affirmed that the occupation authorities prevented his wife from visiting their son held in Megiddo prison, despite obtaining a visit permit.
The mother was stopped at the Al-Jalama checkpoint, northeast of Jenin, and forced to return home.
