Israeli occupation forces continued their military operations in the northern West Bank, launching violent incursions into the cities of Tulkarm and Jenin and surrounding refugee camps. The raids, which extended from late Saturday night into Sunday, included heavy gunfire, drone strikes, and armored vehicle deployment in densely populated neighborhoods, resulting in multiple casualties.
In Jenin, at least five Palestinians were killed, including a 16-year-old boy identified as Wissam Nasser, who was shot in the head by Israeli forces while standing near his home. Several others were seriously wounded, and eyewitnesses reported the use of live ammunition in civilian areas. The occupation army also carried out home demolitions and arrests during the raid.
In Tulkarm, armed drones fired directly into residential zones of Nur Shams camp, setting homes on fire and forcing dozens of families to flee in the early hours of the morning. Several people were injured, while soldiers prevented ambulances and emergency crews from reaching the wounded.
The raids caused widespread destruction to roads, homes, electricity infrastructure, and water networks. Local footage showed bulldozers destroying civilian property under military protection, including cars and public service structures.
These operations come amid a sharp escalation in Israeli military activity across the West Bank, which has seen over 450 Palestinians killed and thousands detained since October 2023. The raids are widely viewed as part of a broader campaign of collective punishment, particularly targeting refugee camps accused of housing resistance fighters.
The humanitarian impact on residents continues to grow, with many neighborhoods under intermittent curfews, and children unable to attend school due to the threat of gunfire and military incursions. Medical services remain severely limited in these areas due to constant obstruction by Israeli forces.
The continued assault on Palestinian cities highlights the intensifying nature of the conflict and the heavy toll being exacted on civilians, particularly in marginalized and overcrowded areas such as refugee camps.
These developments once again place a significant moral and legal burden on the international community. Sustained military operations against densely populated civilian areas raise serious concerns under international humanitarian law, and the current escalation calls for urgent diplomatic and legal measures to protect civilians and ensure accountability.
