Israeli occupation forces continue to kill Palestinian children, in contravention of international humanitarian law which prohibits the deliberate targeting of civilians, and civilian infrastructure and property.
Yesterday evening, Israeli forces shot and killed a Palestinian child and injured two others, one critically.
The Palestinian Ministry of Health announced that the slain child, Muhammad Nidal Salim, 15-years-old, was shot in the back. The critically-injured child was shot in the chest, though is now in a stable condition.
The incident occurred in the town of Azzun, east of Qalqilya city, in the north of the occupied West Bank.
Salim was a tenth-grade student at Azzun Secondary School. He was the youngest of five siblings.
With his death, the number of Palestinians shot and killed by Israeli forces this year has risen to 68, including 14 children, four elderly people, and one person detained in an occupation prison. Illegal settlers are responsible for 4 of those 68 killings.
International humanitarian law prohibits the targeting of civilians, and stresses the need for all actors to respect their physical and mental integrity.
