The Israeli occupation continues carrying out its displacement and Judaisation policy in Palestine, while ignoring international condemnations of its daily demolitions of Palestinian buildings.
On Thursday, May 2, 2024, Israeli occupation bulldozers demolished an under-construction residential building and barracks in Hizma, northeast Jerusalem.
The IOF demolished a three-story residential building belonging to Ali Qasim Al-Khatib family in Tabalas, claiming that it did not obtain a construction permit.
It also demolished two barracks in the same area, belonging to the family of Youssef Mahmoud Malihat.
The Israeli demolition policy in occupied Jerusalem has increased significantly in recent years. It imposes restrictions on Jerusalemites and demolishes or send demolition orders for homes of Palestinians under the pretext of not obtaining a building permit.
Jerusalemites face great difficulties in obtaining building permits, and they cost tens of thousands of dollars for each flat or commercial store.
The demolition, displacement and settlement operations carried out by the Israeli occupation constitute a blatant violation of international law and the fundamental human right to housing, which includes the right to stability and access to safe and appropriate housing, without discrimination or forced displacement.
