Israeli occupation forces’ killing of Palestinians continues, with little sign of condemnation from international allies.
On Wednesday 11 January, the Palestinian Ministry of Health announced the death of Ahmed Omar Salim Abu Junaid, 21-years-old, after he was shot by Israeli forces during an operation in the Balata refugee camp on the outskirts Nablus.
The Ministry reported that after being struck by live fire, Abu Junaid was transferred to Rafidia Surgical Hospital in a critical condition. His death was announced shortly after.
After a so-called “Arabised” unit of Israeli forces surrounded a home in the camp, a confrontation with nearby residents broke out. Occupation forces opened fire with live bullets, stun grenades, and tear gas.
Ahmed Abu Junaid was a media student at Al-Quds Open University.
Near-simultaneously, the Ministry of Health announced the death of a second young man, Sanad Muhammad Othman Samamra, from the town of Ad-Dhahiriya, in the Hebron Governorate.
Samamra was also killed by Israeli occupation forces, near the illegal Havat Yehuda settlement south of Hebron city.
Reports indicate the Israeli forces prevented ambulance crews from reaching the injured Samamra.
Israeli occupation forces killed 224 Palestinians last year.
