The Israeli occupation continues to escalate its violence against Palestinian children in contravention of international humanitarian law, which prohibits states from launching attacks that are likely to kill or injure civilians or damage civilian infrastructure.
Today, Monday 16 January, occupation forces stormed the Dheisheh refugee camp near Bethlehem, in the south of the occupied West Bank, and raided a number of Palestinian citizens’ homes.
During the operation Israeli forces fired live rounds and tear gas canisters and Omar Lutfi Khamor, 14-years-old, was struck in the head by a bullet.
After he was struck Khamor was taken to hospital for treatment, though a short time later the Palestinian Ministry of Health announced that he had died of his injuries.
Cities across the occupied West Bank, including Jeruasalem, or al-Quds as it is known in Arabic, are currently suffering near-daily incursions by Israeli occupation forces and settlers.
With Khamor’s killing, the number of Palestinians killed by Israeli occupation forces the since the beginning of 2023 rose to 14, including four children.
224 Palestinians were shot and killed by Israeli occupation forces in 2022.
