Arab Organisation for Human Rights in the UK (AOHR UK) strongly condemns the Israeli settler crimes against Palestinian civilians in Hawara town in the West Bank city of Nablus.
On Sunday, February 26, 2023, hundreds of Israeli settlers launched mass attacks against several Palestinian towns and villages in the West Bank, mainly in Hawara town.
The settlers set fire to large portions of Hawara. Homes, shops, cars and agricultural land were set ablaze after the Israeli occupation forces have granted settlers open access to the Palestinian town.
At least one Palestinian identified as Sameh Hamdullah Mahmoud Aktech was killed during the evening attack on Hawara, according to the Palestine Ministry of Health. He was shot several times in the abdomen.
The Palestinian Red Crescent has confirmed at least 100 people have been wounded during the attack on the town.
AOHR UK voices its concerns to the rising level of violence committed by Israeli settlers living in illegal settlements in the Occupied Palestinian Territory.
Since the start of the year, at least 62 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli forces and settlers, at a rate of more than one fatality per day.
AOHR UK also emphasizes that there must be an international serious action to stop these settler organised crimes being carried out against unarmed Palestinian civilians under the protection of the occupation army.
