The Gaza Strip continues to suffer from an ongoing genocidal war that has claimed the lives of tens of thousands and left nearly two million Palestinians in unprecedented humanitarian suffering.
On Saturday, the occupation forces continued air striking and artillery shelling on different areas of the Strip, resulting in more civilian casualties.
In Khan Yunis, southern Gaza Strip, an Israeli airstrike targeted a vehicle travelling on Salah El-Din Street, killing five Palestinians, including three workers from the World Central Kitchen, which provides food to the residents of the Strip.
This bombing reflects the occupation’s deliberate targeting of aid supplies and humanitarian workers, as many members of the WCK have previously been targeted in similar attacks.
In Gaza City, seven Palestinians were killed in an airstrike that targeted a home belonging to the Kahil family in the Al-Rimal area, while rescue teams continue to extract six other missing persons from under the rubble.
In the northern cities of the Gaza Strip, Beit Lahia and Jabalia camp were subjected to intense shelling by drones and heavy artillery, causing widespread destruction of infrastructure and residential buildings, and displacing thousands of families.
The southern Gaza Strip also was subjected to artillery shelling on the eastern line area in Khan Yunis resulted in the killing of two people and wounding others.
The Israeli occupation forces also targeted residential areas and public facilities in Nuseirat, Maghazi, and eastern Deir al-Balah, thus exacerbating the humanitarian situation and leaving residents in a state of fear and helplessness.
Intolerable Human Suffering
As the war of extermination continues, the humanitarian crisis in Gaza is worsening horribly.
According to the World Food Program, the prices of basic foodstuffs have increased by more than 1,000%, making it almost impossible for most families to obtain food.
Residents are also suffering from a severe shortage of cooking gas, forcing many to use waste as fuel and exposing them to serious respiratory diseases.
The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) confirmed that the war in the northern Gaza Strip has displaced more than 130,000 people, while about 545,000 live in damaged buildings or temporary shelters.
Thousands of families are reported to have suffered from heavy rains that flooded their shelters and tents, forcing them to flee again, amid a severe shortage of basic materials such as blankets and winter clothes.
The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) stated that the health situation in the Strip is on the verge of complete collapse, given the limited health care services, power outages, and a severe shortage of medicines and medical supplies. Thousands of patients and injured people, including children and pregnant women, are at risk of death due to lack of medical care.
Victims of the War of Extermination
Since the start of the war of extermination on October 7, 2023, the number of Palestinians killed has reached 44,363, 70 percent of whom are children and women, in addition to more than 105,070 wounded.
The Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip reported that more than 10,000 remain missing under the rubble, raising the possibility of an increase in the number of victims.
In light of the ongoing Israeli genocide on Gaza, international demands are increasing to stop the aggression and lift the siege on the Gaza Strip. However, the occupation continues to ignore the resolutions of the UN Security Council and the orders of the International Court of Justice calling for an end to the aggression and improvement of the humanitarian situation.
The continuation of the war of extermination on the Gaza Strip and the increase in the number of victims day after day, require urgent and serious action from the international community to pressure the occupation to stop its crimes and lift the siege immediately.
