Ghassan Douglas, official in charge of the settlement file in the northern West Bank, said that on Thursday, July 14, Israeli settlers have uprooted about 400 olive trees that had been planted three years ago in Deir Sharaf town, west of Nablus, adding that those trees were planted in lands owned by a Palestinian family near Shavei Shomron Israeli settlement.
Recently, settlers attacked on Palestinians, their lands and houses has increased significantly, however, many Palestinian farmers avoid submitting complaints for fear of retaliatory penalties being on them by the occupation authorities.
According to the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs “OCHA”, in 2020 a total of 358 settlers attacks against Palestinians were recorded compared to 496 attacks in 2021, 370 of which resulted in property damage and 126 injuries.
The resolution of the UN Security Council and the United Nations General Assembly confirm that Israeli settlements established on the occupied Palestinian territories are “illegal and constitute a war crime.”
According to human rights groups, there are 666,000 settlers, 145 large settlements and 140 random (unlicensed settlement outputs) in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem.
