In their ongoing aggression against the city of Jenin and its camp, the Israeli occupation forces (IOF) carried out a horrifying massacre on Tuesday, killing seven Palestinian citizens, including a teacher, a doctor, and a child, and wounding twelve more, two of whom were critically injured.
The occupation forces stormed the Jenin camp, resulting in the deaths of seven civilians and the injuries of two others, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health.
According to Wissam Bakr, director of the Jenin Governmental Hospital: “Among the dead were Aseed Jabarin, a general surgery specialist at Jenin Hospital, who was targeted in the vicinity of the hospital; Allam Jaradat, a teacher heading to his job at the Walid Abu Muwais Basic School for Boys; and Mahmoud Amjad Hamadna, a ninth-grader from the Al Karama Second Basic School for Boys.”
The injured included schoolchildren, according to the Palestinian Red Crescent, and the occupation army prevented medical personnel from getting to them.
Due to the severe field conditions, all schools in the city of Jenin and its camp were evacuated, according to Salam Al-Taher, the director of education in Jenin. The only exceptions were a small number of students attending Al-Karama and Al-Zahraa schools.
Muhammad al-Sabbagh, the head of the Popular Committee for Jenin Camp Services, clarified that UNRWA schoolchildren are still under siege.
The occupation forces, escorted by special “Musta’arabiun” units, overran the city of Jenin and its camp this morning. They were positioned in the streets of Haifa, Nablus, and Burqin Road. They opened fire on Palestinian citizens, attacking them with gas bombs and bullets.
The seven citizens’ execution brought the total number of deaths in the West Bank since October 7 to 513, including 127 residents of the Jenin Governorate.
The occupation forces in Jenin and its camp have committed serious crimes against human rights and international humanitarian law. As a result, the international community must strongly denounce this violent act, demand an investigation into these crimes, and hold those responsible for them accountable.
According to international humanitarian law, military forces are required to uphold civilian rights, abstain from using excessive force or targeting civilians directly, defend civilian rights, and make sure that injured parties receive first aid and medical attention as soon as possible.
International and local organizations must act quickly to stop these violations and endeavor to give the victims and their families the essential humanitarian support. To stop more of these awful incidents from happening, a commitment to working to bring justice to the area is necessary.
