On Monday, April 4, 2022, the Israeli police forces injured five Palestinians and arrested eight others in separate incidents in occupied Jerusalem.
The Palestinian Red Crescent Society reported that a young man suffered different injuries and bruises after being attacked by Israeli forces near Bab Al-Sahira, one of the gates of the Old City. He was immediately taken to hospital for treatment.
Four other Palestinians were injured after Israeli forces violently stormed the Al-Isawiya town in East Jerusalem.
The Israeli forces often carry out detention raids against Palestinians in the occupied Jerusalem, claiming to arrest “wanted” Palestinians.
Israeli attacks intensified during Ramadan
Meanwhile, the Israeli police forces brutally attacked Palestinian youths at Bab al-Amud square in occupied Jerusalem, for the third consecutive night.
The police forces provocatively stormed Bab al-Amud square and embarked on chasing and assaulting Palestinian young men.
Tear gas and sound bombs were heavily fired, with no injures were reported.
However, eight young men were detained during the events.
This was the third day of police violence in the holy city, which is seen as part of Israeli attempts to impose a new fait accompli on the Jerusalemites and prevent their night presence in the areas around the Aqsa Mosque during the holy month of Ramadan.
The tension has been rising high in the occupied city after Israeli foreign minister Yair Lapid toured on Sunday evening the Old City’s Bab al-Amud and the area around it amid heavy presence of police forces.
