The case must be investigated before an international court which enjoys fairness and transparency
Arab Organisation for Human Rights in the UK (AOHR UK) said that the case of Jamal Khashoggi’s murder is not a family matter. Any kind of amnesty from anyone does not make the criminal nature of the case less serious, nor does it make the need to achieve justice, especially determining the fate of the body, less urgent.
AOHR UK added that the case was expected to end in this tribal manner –a ransom in exchange for the family’s pardon-, especially where the defendant and the family of the victim are under the control of the Saudi regime .
AOHR UK stressed that the case constitutes a state terrorism that requires holding those responsible accountable before a special international court that enjoys integrity and transparency.
AOHR UK called on the family of the late Jamal Khashoggi not to be involved in controversies that would disturb the efforts to hold those responsible for his death accountable. The amnesty issued by one of the family members should not be used in favour of the Saudi regime.
AOHR UK further stressed that the lack of decision makers’ will to take a decisive stance towards the organisers and perpetrators of this crime made the Saudi regime threaten everyone who speaks the truth with Khashoggi’s fate.
