Arab Organisation for Human Rights in the UK (AOHR UK) condemned the Lebanese government’s decision of 1 May 2020 preventing the return of palestininan refugees who are holders of documents issued by the Lebanese Republic from the UAE.
AOHR UK added that upon the arrival to Dubai Aipport, a number of Palestinian document holders who requested to return and had their request approved, they were humiliated and prevented from boarding the plane by the Lebanese security.
The decision to prevent the return of Palestinian document holders violates Lebanese law and the fundamental principles of international law that protect refugees and obliges the hosting country to facilitate their travel and return.
AOHR UK also stressed that these racist measures by the Lebanese authorities have been practiced for decades, preventing the Palestinian refugee from enjoying the minimum rights stipulated in the international law.
AOHR UK called on the Lebanese government to uphold its moral and legal responsibilities, especially during the pandemic and respect the documents issued by its authorities which authorize the Palestinian refugee to leave and return at any time.
