Israeli occupation forces committed a new crime in the town of Meithalun, south of Jenin, by executing the former prisoner Hassan Ali Hassan Rabaia (37 years old), in a blatant violation of the principles of international humanitarian law that prohibit extrajudicial executions and depriving the wounded of medical care.
Large forces from the occupation army raided the town on Sunday morning and surrounded the house of the martyr Rabaia, an officer in the Palestinian Preventive Security Service and the father of the child Ali Rabaia (15 years old), who was killed by occupation gunfire during a previous raid on the town in July last year.
The occupation forces fired a hail of bullets towards the house, resulting in him sustaining serious injuries.
The Palestinian Red Crescent Society confirmed that its crews were prevented from reaching Rabaia to provide first aid, as the forces arrested him while he was seriously wounded, before later announcing his death due to his injuries.
This incident represents a clear violation of international law, including the common Article 3 of the Geneva Conventions that prohibits killing persons incapable of fighting and preventing medical care for the injured. It also signifies a continuation of the collective punishment policy pursued by the occupation forces against Palestinian civilians in the occupied territories.
This crime necessitates an urgent and independent international investigation to hold those responsible for these grave crimes accountable and to impose deterrent legal mechanisms to halt the ongoing Israeli violations against the Palestinian people, ensuring respect for the principles of international humanitarian law and human rights.
