Today, Sunday 5 February, Israeli occupation forces continued their blockade of the city of Jericho in the occupied West Bank for the ninth consecutive day. Palestinians’ movement continues to be restricted in the city, with hugely increased use of identification checks.
At dawn Israeli occupation forces stormed the Aqabat Jaber refugee camp south of Jericho, resulting in the wounding of 13 Palestinians, two of them seriously. Other Palestinians were arrested.
Since 29 January occupation forces have closed al-Quds Street, a major route in the city’s south. The main northern entrance to Jericho was also closed.
Occupation forces also stormed areas in Bethlehem, Hebron, Ramallah, al-Bireh, Nablus, and Jenin. 17 Palestinians in total were arrested.
Israeli occupation forces are currently conducting raids on Palestinian cities on a daily basis, with arrestees typically taken to both detention centres and military bases in Israel itself.
The number of Palestinian prisoners in occupation prisons is approximately 4,760, according to Palestinian prisoner-rights groups.
