13 Palestinian prisoners in the Israeli occupation prisons continue their open hunger strike, protesting against their administrative detention.
Six detainees in Raymon prison have joined the prisoners on hunger strike, including Hadi Naji Nazzal, Mohamed Tayseer Zakarneh, and Anas Ahmed Kamil. The three detainees are Qabatiya in Jenin and have been detained in May 2023.
The three others are Abdelrahman Iyad Baraqah from the Aqaba camp, arrested in April, Jabr Bariha, arrested also in April 2023, Mohamed Bassem Akhmis from Beit Ummar in Hebron, arrested in November 2022, and Zuhdi Talal Abido from Hebron, arrested in March 2023.
Prisoners Saif Hamdan, Saleh Rabaya, Qusay Khader, and Osama Khalil are still on hunger strike for the 14th consecutive day, while Kayed Al-Fasfous and Sultan Khalouf have continued their strike for 10 days, in addition to Osama Daqrouq, who began his strike six days ago.
The hunger strike came in line with the measures taken by administrative detainees in Ofer prison and several other prisons, where 60 detainees have abstained from going to the occupation military courts, which continues to issue administrative detention orders against them, reaching about 1200 detainees.
Since the beginning of this year, the occupation authorities have issued 1978 administrative detention orders, of which 370 orders were issued in July only.
The number of Palestinian prisoners and detainees in the occupation prisons is 4,900, including 28 female prisoners. 559 have been sentenced to life imprisonment.
