For the fifth consecutive day, the Israeli occupation forces (IOF) continue their siege and storming of the town of Tamoun and Far’a camp south of Tubas, amid a rapid deterioration in the humanitarian situation.
This escalation coincides with the continued tight siege imposed on other cities and camps in the West Bank. The aggression on the city of Tulkarm and its camp enters its eleventh day, while the siege of Jenin and its camp continues for the seventeenth consecutive day.
The IOF sent intensive military reinforcements to the town of Tamoun and Far’a camp, and closed all entrances to it, preventing the movement of citizens, causing a stifling humanitarian crisis.
The IOF also carried out extensive raids on dozens of homes and arrest of 11 citizens yesterday, in addition to detention and field investigation operations targeting many residents.
The siege has caused a complete water and electricity outage in large parts of Tamoun and Al-Fara’a, after the occupation bulldozers destroyed water lines and basic infrastructure, which exacerbated the suffering of the residents, especially with the prevention of the entry of basic food supplies and baby milk.
Moreover, the IOF continued bombing several locations inside the town of Tamoun with drones over the past two days, which resulted in severe material damage without any human casualties reported so far.
The occupation authorities also announced on loudspeakers the imposition of a curfew until next Sunday, although movement within the town and camp has been practically impossible since the beginning of the aggression.
These attacks forced dozens of families to flee their homes, especially in the areas located on the outskirts of the town and camp, where the occupation forces turned them into closed military barracks.
The impact of the siege extended to the agricultural and livestock sector, as the occupation prevented farmers from reaching their lands to harvest their crops or tend their crops, which threatens heavy losses. Livestock farmers have also been unable to reach their farms to provide fodder and water, which threatens to kill large numbers of livestock and poultry, thus exacerbating the economic and livelihood crisis in the region.
This siege coincides with a wide-scale aggression carried out by the occupation in various areas of the West Bank, most notably on the city of Tulkarm and its camp for 11 days, which has led to the killing and arrest of dozens, in addition to the ongoing military campaign on Jenin and its camp for 17 days, where the city is witnessing systematic destruction of infrastructure and the forced displacement of a large number of families.
This Israeli aggression falls within the policy of collective punishment, which constitutes a flagrant violation of international law, especially the Fourth Geneva Convention, which prohibits collective punishment and the indiscriminate targeting of infrastructure and civilians.
The international community must take urgent action to stop Israeli violations against the Palestinians, ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid to the besieged areas, and hold the occupation authorities accountable for these crimes, the severity of which is increasing day after day, in the absence of any effective international deterrence.
