The Palestinian Authorities (PA) in the West Bank continue to target activists, journalists and university students and subject them to many forms of violations.
On Sunday, September 04, 2022, the PA arrested Journalist Mohamed Atiq, after raiding and searching his home in Burqin, West Bank at 2:00 am.
Ali Atiq, father of the Journalist, accused Palestinian intelligence agents of showing a fake search warrant with no stamp of the Public Prosecution, noting that they searched the house and confiscated 4 computers and cameras for his son’s work, and 4 phones of other family members.
Atiq works as a reporter and photographer with a local agency on the coverage of the events in the city and camp of Jenin.
Atiq’s arrest comes hours after the Palestinian security services released journalist Mujahid Al-Saadi, who was arrested by a National Security Agency force, claiming that he was filming during the Palestinian security’s arrest of a citizen from a house next to his house.
Members of the European Union had recently criticised the Palestinian Authority in the West Bank for the arrest of dozens of political activists by its security services, which has been trained and equipped by the European police.
