The number of Palestinians killed in the Gaza Strip as a result of Israeli occupation attacks has risen to 71,657, while the number of injured has exceeded 171,399 since the assault began on 7 October 2023.
According to the latest updates, three Palestinians were killed and eight others injured over the past 24 hours as a result of occupation gunfire and bombardment. A number of civilians remain trapped under rubble or lying in the streets, as ambulance and rescue crews are unable to reach them due to extremely difficult field conditions.
Since the partial ceasefire came into effect on 11 October, the death toll has increased to 484, with 1,321 injured, while 713 bodies have been recovered from beneath the rubble.
The continued killing of civilians by Israeli occupation gunfire and shelling constitutes a grave violation of international humanitarian law and amounts to a clear war crime.
The indiscriminate bombardment of residential neighbourhoods, the targeting of civilians in streets and homes, and the continuation of killings even after ceasefire agreements underscore that these acts form part of a systematic policy aimed at terrorising the civilian population and imposing suffering upon it.
The occupation’s disregard for civilian protection rules, along with its obstruction of victims’ safe access to medical care and humanitarian assistance, places direct responsibility on the occupying power for the crimes committed and subjects it to international accountability. The persistence of these attacks obliges the international community to take immediate action to protect civilians and hold those responsible for these systematic violations to account.
