The Israeli occupation forces (IOF) arrested the Palestinian journalist Abdel Mohsen Shalaldeh after raiding his family house in Sa’ir town in Hebron, in the southern West Bank.
Shalaldeh’s arrest brings the total number of Palestinian journalists held in Israeli jails to ten.
Among the total detainees are nine journalists who have been convicted and received prison sentences, while six are continued to be held in administrative detention without charge or trial. Three more journalists are still waiting for their court sessions.
Israeli forces have killed 55 Palestinian journalists since 2000, according to the Palestinian Journalists Syndicate (PJS).
Two journalists were killed by Israeli forces in 2022, including Al Jazeera journalist, Shireen Abu Akleh, it clarified.
According to the sources, 52 journalists were shot, 90 others were directly hit by gas and sound bombs, and 117 were physically assaulted during 2022.
40 journalists were also arrested during the same reported period.
A total of 902 media violations were carried out by Israeli occupation in 2022.
99 settler attacks were reported against journalists in 2020.
As a whole, 4,700 Palestinians are held in Israeli prisons, including 150 children and 29 women.
