Palestinian detainee, Raed Ryan, 27, from Jerusalem, continues his open hunger strike for the 87th day in a row, protesting his administrative detention.
Ryan is currently held in Ramla prison clinic, where he suffers from severe weight loss and general weakness.
Ryan also suffers from pain all over his body and uses a wheelchair. Despite his continuous deterioration of his health, the prison administration refuses to transfer him to hospital.
There are nearly 500 administrative detainees boycotting the Israeli occupation courts for the 183rd day in a row, protesting against the crime of administrative detention.
In return, the occupation authorities impose punitive measures against detainees boycotting their courts through deprivation of visits and renewing their administrative detention.
Administrative detention is an arrest without charge or trial, and without allowing the detainees or their lawyers to inspect the evidence, in violation of the international humanitarian law, thus making the Israeli occupation the only entity in the world using this policy.
Currently, there are 4600 Palestinian prisoners held inside the occupation detention centres, including 682 held under administrative detention. The number of administrative detention decisions since 1967 has reached more than 54 thousand decisions.
