A 17-year-old Palestinian teen died of injuries he sustained several days ago during a settler attack on Silwad town, east of Ramallah, medical sources said on Monday.
The director of the Palestine Medical Complex, Dr. Ahmad Al-Bitawi, affirmed that Fathi Hamed died of a severe pulmonary embolism, after being shot in the chest and abdomen.
Hamed was shot by an Israeli settler while driving near the Ofra illegal settlement a week ago.
The number of Palestinians killed by the Israeli occupation forces (IOF) and settlers has risen to 209 since the start of 2023, including 39 children and 11 women.
International humanitarian law prohibits targeting civilians and subjecting them to attack, whether a group or an individual, and stresses respect for their lives, their physical and mental integrity, and their protection and humane treatment.
International human rights organisations must stop such egregious abuses, protect Palestinian children, and hold the perpetrators accountable.
