The Israeli occupation authorities carries out its policy of Judaizing Palestine nonstop, It demolishes civilian homes and forcibly displaces its owners from their homes and lands.
The occupation demolished and confiscated 44 Palestinian-owned buildings in Jerusalem and Area C of the West Bank over the past two weeks for lacking building permits as they claim, according to a report by OCHA.
According to the report, the occupation authorities displaced 29 Palestinians, including 10 children, whom it demolished their homes between August 30 and September 12. Moreover, the livelihood of about 140 others were affected, in addition to 35 buildings in Area C, including 19 were confiscated immediately, and their owners were not able to object to the decision before the confiscation.
Nine other buildings in Jerusalem were also demolished, including five whose owners demolished themselves to avoid paying fines for the issuance of the demolition orders.
On September 6, 2022, the occupation authorities bombed an uninhabited flat in a multi-storey building in Jenin for punitive reasons, which affected 2 other houses for 2 Palestinian families of 12 members, including 8 children.
The report indicated that since the beginning of this year, the occupation authorities have demolished 11 homes for punitive reasons, compared to 3 in 2021 and 7 in 2020.
Punitive demolition is a form of illegal collective punishment against innocent people, and it often exposes people and property in nearby places to danger.
Demolishing Palestinian homes is an old Israeli policy used since the establishment of the occupying state in 1948. Since the Nakba, the Israeli authorities have destroyed more than 500 Palestinian villages and towns.
It is noteworthy that the occupation demolished or confiscated 862 Palestinian buildings in Area C of the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem, during 2021, according to OCHA.
