The Palestinian administrative prisoners in the Negev prison announced returning their medicine and refusing to take it, in protest of their ongoing administrative detention.
In a press statement, the Administrative Prisoners Committee said that “This step is highly worrying, and is a serious call on the free people of the world to stop the administrative detention policy, and to call for the release of all administrative prisoners immediately.”
“This step is a means of rejecting the unjust administrative detention, which destroys the lives of Palestinian people inside the occupation prisons. It is also a step towards boycotting the occupation courts”, it added.
Since January 01, 2022, the administrative prisoners have been boycotting the administrative detention courts, in conjunction with other activities of prisoners against the violations and illegal practices by the prison administration.
Administrative detention is a detention without charge or trial, based on a secret file that neither the detainee nor his lawyer have access to. According to the military orders of the occupation, an administrative detention order can be renewed unlimited times, renewable for six months.
The occupation authorities hold about 500 prisoners in administrative detention, out of 4600 Palestinians in its prisons.
