The Civil Defense in the Gaza Strip announced on Sunday the killing of its deputy director in the northern part of the region in an Israeli airstrike that targeted him, bringing the number of its crews’ fatalities since last October 7th to 83.
The spokesperson for the Civil Defense, Mahmoud Basal, mourned the deputy director of the Civil Defense in the northern governorate, Mohammed Abdel-Hay Morsi, who was killed in an Israeli airstrike that targeted his family’s home in Al-Alami area in Jabalia at dawn today.
The number of Civil Defense crew members killed since the beginning of the war has risen to 83 individuals and over 200 injured.
Basal pointed out that “Civil Defense crews continue to suffer from a shortage of specialized rescue equipment, as well as a lack of fuel and spare parts necessary to protect lives and properties.”
Since October 7, 2023, the Israeli occupation army has been carrying out a genocidal war on the Gaza Strip, leading to a catastrophic worsening of humanitarian and health conditions due to continuous bombardment and strict siege preventing the arrival of essential supplies like food, water, medicine, and electricity.
The international community is obligated to take immediate and decisive action to halt the genocide, compel the Israeli occupation to comply with the decisions of the International Court of Justice, the United Nations, and the Security Council. Countries and international institutions must take serious steps to protect civilians, ensure the urgent delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza, implement international resolutions calling for an end to the blockade and aggression, and put an end to these heinous crimes.
